Your duties

As a Data Platform Engineer (f/m/d), your primary responsibility will be to oversee the maintenance and administration of our data platform. You will play a critical role in ensuring the secure and reliable functioning of the platform, managing user access, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and optimizing platform performance. Your work will directly impact our ability to make data-driven decisions and drive innovation in the payment industry.

THE ROLE
  • DataOps Management: You will be responsible for managing the Data Lifecycle Process, ensuring data quality, integrity, and availability throughout its lifecycle. This includes data ingestion, transformation, storage, and distribution.
  • Security and Access Control: Maintain a robust permission model and user access controls on the data platform to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other Ratepay teams to integrate supporting services for the Data Platform. This may involve working closely with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and other stakeholders to meet their data needs.
  • Data Source Integration: Work in conjunction with Data Engineers to establish seamless integration with data source systems, ensuring that data is collected, processed, and made available efficiently.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance and resource consumption of the data platform. Implement improvements to enhance its scalability and responsiveness.

Your profile

  • You have completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field with a Data Engineering background
  • 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Platform Administrator, System Engineer, DevOps Manager
  • Proficiency in the administration and maintenance of Snowflake and AWS (must-have). 
  • Strong skills in DevOps practices, including CI/CD implementation (Jenkins, TeamCity, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, enabling the provisioning and management of infrastructure resources as code.
  • Expertise in SQL for querying and manipulating data within the data platform. Knowledge of SQL optimization techniques is a plus.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages and tools for automating routine tasks. This may include Python, JavaScript, or other relevant scripting languages.
  • Ability to work effectively in an agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams, participating in sprint planning, and adapting to changing project requirements.
  • You have an open and frank communication style and enjoy working in a like-minded team
  • You like challenges and developing creative solutions, but remain practical and use-case oriented
  • You have an agile mindset and your working mantra includes: “You build it, you run it”
  • Your business proficiency in English round off your profile

  • Cloud: AWS
  • CI/CD: Jenkins and Terraform.
  • Programming, manipulating and loading data: SQL 
  • Business proficiency in English, both written and spoken, complete your profile

Bonus skills:
  • Python and version control (e.g. Git, SourceTree, Bitbucket)
  • For ETL orchestration: Airflow (similar tools considered) 
  • Awareness of data modelling & analytics
