Your duties

About us 
Ratepay‘s Buyer experience owns multiple services and applications which support our customers and also other departments. We are scaling up and we aim to enhance our customer facing application in a revolutionising way to increase customer engagement and retention. 
For this to happen, Software Engineers, Product Managers and Engineering Managers closely collaborate in Buyer experience domain to architect, design, and combine the services and propose future proof products. 
 Our technology stack is:   Spring boot, Java, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Postgress, MongoDB, GraphQL, Kafka, RabbitMQ, … 
Why you should be interested 
  • Design, develop, deploy, operate and improve backend services that help our department execute their work efficiently and have a direct impact on our daily business. Provide foundational data for other departments through APIs and event streams. 
  • Participate in frontend-related discussions. Design and develop the brand new UI for our recent customer facing products. 
  • Opportunity to contribute to the New Ratepay customer portal. 
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers across Ratepay to create positive customer impact together 
  • Based on our microservices architecture, you and the team will own your code and decide on the technologies and tools to deliver as well as operate large-scale applications on AWS. Take ownership for the whole product development cycle - from architecture design to testing to implementation, maintenance and operation. 
  • Improve our internal processes, documentation and ways of working 
  • Learn the best industry practices from a well-established engineering community 

Your profile

We’d love to meet you if 
  • You have at least 7 years of recent industry experience as a backend or full-stack engineer, with production grade knowledge in Java/Kotlin. 
  • You have at least 3 years of recent experience as a frontend or full-stack engineer using modern frontend frameworks. (React preferred.) 
  • You have experience with REST services and API design. 
  • You have hands-on experience in developing and maintaining scalable, and testable code, and have a general understanding of industry best practices. 
  • You have strong communication skills and willingness to share knowledge within and outside the team. 
  • Experience in Payment industry or ecommerce is a huge plus. 
  • Experience with microservices architecture, distributed systems and building and running large-scale applications is a plus. 
  • Strong AWS knowledge is a plus. 
  • Interest and experience in at least one further technology stack is a plus.
