As Head of Legal (m/f/d), you and your team of 5 will be responsible for all legal and data protection matters at Ratepay and will advise our management and departments. You will report to Ratepay's CFO and work closely with Ratepay's CEO and the Group General Counsel for the DACH region within a matrix structure. 

Your tasks
  • You are responsible for the management and strategic direction of your department
  • You support the continuous development and growth of your team with regular legal trainings, among other things
  • You draft and negotiate complex factoring framework agreements with international payment platforms and structured financing agreements with European banks.
  • You manage the work of external lawyers and are responsible for the budget
  • You prepare official notifications to the financial supervisory authorities together with the Compliance Department
  • You are responsible for data protection and work closely with our (external) data protection officer to further strengthen the department.
  • You will be in charge of out-of-court and court litigation proceedings

Your profile

  • You have several years of professional experience in a comparable position and have successfully completed your law studies as a fully qualified lawyer (m/f/d) or business lawyer (m/f/d).
  • You are familiar with the rules of civil and commercial law.
  • Ideally, you already have expertise in the regulated payment and/or banking sector
  • You are familiar with the DSGVO and have already carried out corresponding projects in a company
  • You are characterised by a customer- and solution-oriented, as well as pragmatic viewpoint and are not afraid to make recommendations
  • You know how to build a sustainable, efficient team with a long-term perspective in mind
  • You empower your employees to work in a self-organised and autonomous way by inspiring with your knowledge, sharing it and being connective and authentic in the process
  • Experience in a FinTech or e-commerce environment is an advantage  
  • In your previous roles, close collaboration with shareholders and various stakeholders was the order of the day
  • You demonstrate excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills in both German and English
