Here's What You'll Be Doing

Ratepay is a dynamic and innovative fintech company dedicated to revolutionizing payment solutions in the online retail sector. We empower e-commerce businesses with flexible and secure payment options, allowing them to optimize their revenue streams.
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented working student to join our software engineering team. This role focuses on managing and optimizing our HTML-based email templates. You will collaborate with a team of senior Java and Kotlin engineers to ensure the email templates are efficient, effective, and up-to-date.

Create, Update, and Modify HTML Email Templates:
- Develop and maintain HTML-based email templates used for various communications.
- Ensure the templates adhere to the latest design standards and are responsive across different devices.
Utilize Code Snippets within Templates:
- Analyze and understand the code snippets (e.g., CSS) embedded within the email templates.
- Make necessary modifications or optimizations to improve template performance.
Review and Optimize Email Templates (German Language):
- Review the email templates written in German to ensure they are linguistically and technically accurate.
- Suggest improvements to enhance clarity, consistency, and readability.
Analyze and Optimize the Email Template Portfolio:
- Review the current inventory of email templates.
- Provide insights and suggestions on reducing the total number of templates by identifying redundancies or combining similar templates.
Collaborate with Senior Engineers:
- Work closely with a team of experienced Java and Kotlin engineers to implement the necessary changes.
- Gain hands-on experience and mentorship in software engineering best practices.
Support and Consult Stakeholders:
- Assist and advise stakeholders such as Account Management and Product Management with email template changes.
- Ensure stakeholder requests are understood and implemented efficiently while maintaining template quality and consistency.

Your profile

Education:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in any technology-related field. Students in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or similar fields are preferred but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in HTML and CSS.
- Familiarity with email client compatibility and responsive design principles.
Language Skills:
- Fluency in German (both written and spoken) is required.
- Good command of English for internal communication.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify areas for improvement in existing templates.
- Capable of conducting thorough analysis and providing actionable recommendations.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Open to feedback and eager to learn from senior engineers.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively support and consult with stakeholders.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently on assigned tasks.
- Willingness to learn new tools and technologies as required by the team.

Our Recruitment Process

Step 1: Intro Call with a Senior Talent Partner

The first call with our recruiter is meant to be an introduction to ratepay, our culture and recruitment process.

We want to get to know you better, understand who you are beyond your CV and find out what excites you.

Step 2: Meet your future Manager

This step is designed to get to know your future manager and the role better.

During this conversation we will dive deeper into your experience and share more about the team you would work with and share expectations from both sides.

Step 3: Team interview & skill assessment

This step looks slightly different in different business areas but is to assess technical and culture add.

It usually consists of a role-specific case study or technical assessment as well as assessing values alignment with some senior members of the team you would be joining.

Step 4: Coffee chat (optional)

This step doesn't occur in every process, it depends on the role.

The coffee chat would generally take place with either a senior stakeholder from the business area you are joining such as a C-level leader or Head of department, or in some cases with a Senior HRBP.
