Here's What You'll Be Doing

Together we work on next-generation solutions for major online retailers and marketplaces, thereby developing the digital payment solutions of tomorrow's online world. 
 
As a Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) at Ratepay, you will make a significant contribution to our shared mission of building and developing secure and simple payment solutions for the online retail market, which still continues to grow. 
 
Your tasks at Ratepay, among others 
  • You are responsible for the development, operation and improvement of our systems.     
  • You integrate internal and external APIs in a microservice architecture.
  • You are an active participant in our agile software engineering process, and work closely with interdisciplinary teams.
  • You guide and support junior team mates.

Your profile

  • At least 7 years of professional working experience in Java backend development and solid practice with Kotlin is nice to have 
  • Hands-on expertise in Software Engineering using Spring/SpringBoot, Git, Maven, Docker, Jenkins
  • Solid experience with cloud technologies (AWS)
  • Very good conceptual knowledge about RESTful APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture (Apache Kafka) and OAuth (Auth0)
  • Experienced in building high-quality customer solutions in an agile environment
  • Involvement in every step of the software lifecycle and internalisation of the DevOps approach ("you build it, you run it")
  • Self-organised work as well as collaboration within the team and with other teams at Ratepay to deliver high value to our stakeholders and merchants
  • Very good English language skills

It usually consists of a role-specific case study or technical assessment as well as assessing values alignment with some senior members of the team you would be joining.

The coffee chat would generally take place with either a senior stakeholder from the business area you are joining such as a C-level leader or Head of department, or in some cases with a Senior HRBP.
