Ratepay is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer with a strong background in cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, including expertise in AWS, automation, and CI/CD pipelines. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a scalable, secure, and high-performing platform that supports our software development teams in bringing services to production, optimizing system performance, ensuring compliance, and driving operational excellence through improved observability and incident management.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Operation of applications and infrastructure in the cloud with the usage of IaC tooling (Terraform and Terragrunt)
  • Support software engineer teams in maintaining their cloud-native applications in our Cloud infrastructure 
  • Managing various native services of our Cloud Provider (AWS)
  • Scaling and optimizing the platform for performance
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving issues
  • Monitoring and analyzing platform performance
  • Evaluating and integrating new technologies and tools to improve the platform
  • Implementing security measures and ensuring compliance with standards
  • Documenting platform architecture and processes

Your Profile

  • Proven experience in engineering (6-7 years) 
  • Cloud Infrastructure (AWS): Hands-on experience managing infrastructure in AWS, which is our primary platform for hosting and scaling services
  • Terraform and Terragrunt: Proven ability to deploy and manage infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt, ensuring consistent and automated provisioning
  • DevOps Tooling and Practices: Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management, monitoring, and logging to support reliable software delivery and operations
  • Networking: Solid understanding of networking principles to manage connectivity and communication between infrastructure components
  • Version Control (Git): Experience using Git for source control and collaborative development
  • OpsGenie: Familiarity with incident management workflows using OpsGenie to ensure timely alerting and response
 
Nice-to-have skills: 
  • Programming and Scripting: Ability to write scripts or small tools to support automation and assist software engineers with troubleshooting
  • Linux System Administration: Fundamentals of Linux system administration for troubleshooting and recovery
  • Ansible: Familiarity with the tool for configuring and managing legacy systems
  • Messaging Architecture and Systems: Understanding of systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Kinesis, which are central to service communication
  • Virtualization and Containers: Knowledge of tools such as Docker, Podman, VMWare, or OpenStack to manage virtual environments and containers
  • Jira and Confluence experience

It usually consists of a role-specific case study or technical assessment as well as assessing values alignment with some senior members of the team you would be joining.
