Here's What You'll Be Doing

YOUR MISSION

Ratepay is a dynamic and innovative fintech company dedicated to revolutionizing payment solutions in the online retail sector. We empower e-commerce businesses with flexible and secure payment options, allowing them to optimize their revenue streams. As a Senior Accountant (m/f/d), you’ll be a key player in our accounting team, taking ownership of critical financial tasks while collaborating across departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. You’ll also be the go-to expert for both internal and external audits, helping us maintain compliance and excellence.

 
Key Responsibilities:

Independently prepare monthly and annual financial statements (main ledger) with precision and attention to detail according to IFRS and HGB.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT returns, advance VAT returns, recapitulative statements, and other tax returns.
Take a proactive role in internal and cross-departmental projects, providing your accounting expertise to help drive company initiatives.
Support day-to-day accounting tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of financial processes.
Review, verify, and post incoming invoices and other business transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Prepare detailed reports and analyses and respond to ad hoc financial inquiries from various stakeholders.
Serve as the key contact for internal and external audit-related queries, ensuring transparency and thoroughness.

Your profile

- Fluency in German and excellent command of English, ensuring clear communication with internal and external stakeholders
- A completed commercial apprenticeship or training as an Accountant, or an equivalent qualification; the qualification of “Bilanzbuchhalter” is an added advantage.
- Several years of experience in accounting, with additional exposure to project management being a plus.
- Strong knowledge of HGB and IFRS accounting principles, combined with expertise in SAP and MS Office.
- Ideally, you have experience with Navision and a good understanding of German VAT law and other tax laws.
- Passion for accounting and a commitment to contributing to a fast-growing company with enthusiasm and dedication.
- A collaborative, team-oriented attitude, along with the ability to work independently and take ownership of your tasks.
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement, service orientation, and going the extra mile to enhance your skills.

Our Recruitment Process

Step 1: Intro Call with a Senior Talent Partner

The first call with our recruiter is meant to be an introduction to ratepay, our culture and recruitment process.

We want to get to know you better, understand who you are beyond your CV and find out what excites you.

Step 2: Meet your future Manager

This step is designed to get to know your future manager and the role better.

During this conversation we will dive deeper into your experience and share more about the team you would work with and share expectations from both sides.

Step 3: Team interview & skill assessment

This step looks slightly different in different business areas but is to assess technical and culture add.

It usually consists of a role-specific case study or technical assessment as well as assessing values alignment with some senior members of the team you would be joining.

Step 4: Coffee chat (optional)

This step doesn't occur in every process, it depends on the role.

The coffee chat would generally take place with either a senior stakeholder from the business area you are joining such as a C-level leader or Head of department, or in some cases with a Senior HRBP.
